RECYLING FASHION

In my years of playing dress up as a child I understood that what you wore could define you and that made me feel so powerful. While my fellow lawyers spent their time worrying about their next court dates or the melting polar ice caps, my thoughts were focused on Alexander Wang's Spring Collection and North West's meltdown at Kanye's fashion show.

It was after my younger brother was diagnosed with leukaemia last year and we had to leave the country for his treatment in the U. S did I muster up the courage to tell my parents I didn’t want to pursue law as a career which makes me a fairly recent fashion convert.  It was then that I realised what most people say about life being too short and doing what you love was not complete ludicrous. So I quite my job, packed my bags, and moved to a new place, a new life and possibly a new career. I started blogging about latest fashion trends, where you can buy them, how you can style them and with time I met like minded people who believed that fashion and style was a another language in itself. The beauty of it was that every individual had a different way of speaking it.

Lets talk about SUSTAINABLE FASHION for a minute.  Protecting the environment by re-using and re-selling fashion. Doesn’t get better than this. How many times do you wear a designer outfit for an event? Once, and if its the best outfit in your closet then maybe twice. What if you can exchange that designer piece for another designer piece, or even better *Cha- ching*, cold,  hard cash. Its a fairly recent concept in india but when I was in the states I visited the Buffalo Exchange store, a vintage, resale fashion store that buys and sells vintage, luxury brands and it is a huge fashion industry with its stores all across America. Thats when it struck me, why hasn't anybody in India started this initiative yet? Since we have a pointless tradition of sorts, not to repeat a pleasantly perfectly outfit for more than two events at the maximum.

Thats when I came across The Second Row, a special initiative by a friend and when they contact me and asked me if I would like to be a part of this global initiative I was immediately sold at the idea of selling unwanted, previously owned designer pieces from my closet that I knew I wasn’t going to wear again. I raided my closet and took out a bunch of outfits and put them for sale on their website. It was quick, easy and surprisingly painless. With The Second Row you now have the opportunity of selling your previously owned outfits and buying something equally trendy at a reasonable cost. Oh, and about authenticity. They have a strick policy of no fakes so you know they mean business.

Keeping it stylish and doing your bit for the environment is this season's fashion mantra. So grab your wallets and your Louis Vuittons and hurry because its a loot.

Nomadic Influence

Coachella coachella coachella... Its almost the end of coachella season and for one I am glad it is since I no longer have to sit at home and look at social media raving about it. But Coachella has bought with it some major spring- summer fashion forecast and has got me craving some hats. Might I add, there is not better way to say hello to summer than by sporting these graphic tee. I have started purchasing them religiously in every color at every store and I figured that when they do go out of fashion I can totally use them as night wear. Who's the smart one now ha? Its safe to say they are my summer sole saviour.

Its going to be a hectic week with temperatures rising and the sun scorching but a working week shouldn’t mean sacrificing on style even though the weekend is nowhere in site and it feels like the universe is ending, you can still have a stylish week. All you need is something fancy to beat the heat and I have just the perfect outfit. Update your wardrobe with these light and airy khadi plazos from Fabindia. I usually pair these with a buttoned down shirt for a more formal look. After all combining two majorly on- trend pieces makes for a total fashion- win. You will never go wrong I promise.

Seeing Double (day to night)

Time to bust out the sunnies, the weekend is in sight. Hounds tooth is fuelling my obsession today. This is one of my favourite and the most convenient day to night looks for the season hands down. Bring your A - game to work in this pencil skirt and hounds tooth printed buttoned up shirt and you will automatically feel productive. Then make an entrance when stepping out at night in these high rise sneakers taking you from work to leaser with effortless ease. All you have to do, pull out that tucked in shirt, open a few buttons and tie a cute knot at the bottom and you are all set to look like a savage beauty and dance the night away. Black is always elegant and "when is doubt, wear black" is my fashion mantra.
Dress your self and never forget to have fun with it.

The 90's Air

A retro look is all you need to master this season to look ultra chic and glamorous. I'm thinking stylish yet old school and I’m bringing back the 90’s kid in me in these dramatic silk silhouettes. Soft yet strikingly elegant, these silk plazos that I happen to pick up at a guilty free price while strutting through the mall one evening is one of my best buys this season. Pair it with a stripped crop top and your ready to strut like the stylish fashionista that you are. I love the addition of a statement neck piece to tone all the active stripes down. On my hand is a gorgeous ring bracelet. This is my contemporary take on ring bracelet’s, it doesn’t have to be gaudy or restricted to only Indian outfits.

Going nude on the feet are these supper comfy wedges and a sling bag taking you from work to leaser with effortless ease.

Spring has Sprung

Fashion to me has always been about being comfortable in your own skin. Life would be so dreamy if you could be styled buy a unicorn not to mention a lot easier of course. My mother once told me 'always wear your invisible crown' or in  my case an invisible horn because I would rather be a unicorn than be a princess. Being a self proclaimed fashion enthusiast I find it absolutely necessary to document my outfits for you all and splash a little style where ever I go making the world a stylish place in my own little ways, one step at a time.
Fashion week might be over but we still got a few more outfits left to discuss- in detail. It is Fashion Week after all and I am in the mood to play dress up. From the pile of retrieved achieve I found these sweet sorbet shorts, just talking about it is giving me a sugar rush. Take summer dressing to new lengths in this not-so- basic basic t-shirt  and twine it up in a sequence shrug to feel glamorous. Keeping it casual on the feet in these sporty yet chic sneakers because ‘whatever, I’m cool- on the inside- in think!’ Lets face it, an effortless look does take a lot of effort. Phew!

Kickn' it Old School

Day two of the India Fashion Week was everything but a usual. I’m feeling fringes, mesh, bold silhouettes and a bit of color pop to keep me sporty and chic this season. Not going into details of what each designer did for their collect, we'll skip straight to *off the run way* outfits. Contemporary takes on traditional outfits was a hit at the Amazon India Fashion Week
To me style is about knowing who you are, what you want to say and not giving a damn. I want to focus on these BOSS shoes for a minute. I summoned up the courage to wear mid length frill socks to a fashion show because were Kickn’ it old school. And how can I leave behind my midi skirt when we are talking old school? Y’all know they're a rage this season. Pair it with a loose fit mesh top to give it a sporty vibe.
I can't stress enough on how important it is to accessories. Without it the outfit is just incomplete. Since I went with bold shoes I kept my jewellery to a minimal with a small, simple, sky blue neck necklace. Now it feels right.

Amazon India Fashion Week

Its that time for the year again. Clicking in the hallways, creatively curated garments all around, the smell of fresh fabric in the air, oh how I've waited for the Fashion Week. Hospital beds in a row and imaginary patients hooked up to intravenous drips, not the usual setting for a fashion catwalk but a usual one for the ever so talented Rajesh Pratap Singh who inaugurated the Amazon India Fashion Week with his quirky sense of design and an eye for detail. His collection revolved around plaid since plaid has created a lasting impression on the runways this reason. Its has swung right back into style because were kickin it old school.

There is just something about the color black. Its the most comforting color in the whole world. I decided to channel my inner queen in a black cape for day one of the fashion week. I like to dress up like a super hero every now and then. (who doesn't). I always make sure to have a strong accessory game  with the most basic outfit. Adding a sleek gold head piece gives an edge to an otherwise boring outfit. This one from Forever21 is just the perfect fit.

The runways may have been dictating the trends to come but it was outside the show we picked up a a host of styling tips. After all the best fashion is not always on the runway.
